Young In Heart
The “Young in Heart” was organized for adults 55 and above for the purpose of Christian Fellowship. Meetings usually fall on the third Thursdays with some daytime and some night meetings. Some meetings are held in the Fellowship Hall and some are trips outside the church. Yearly dues of $15 per person covers group expenses and some meals. (Dues are due in January and are given to Wilma Artis, Treasurer). Everyone is asked to volunteer for leadership roles.
The Planning Committee recently made the following schedule suggestions for March 2010 through February 2011. (Some details will be announced later.) Currently, Janet Michael (586-8413) heads up the group with many helping by serving on various committees.
It is very important to make reservations for each monthly meeting and pay in advance for anytime there is a charge.
June, July, August – No meetings
Sept. 16 – Cookout at Pine Lake hosted by the Pollocks. Details to be announced.
Oct 21 – Bus trip to Moundsville (Tuscaloosa) with lunch at Kentuck Cedar Lodge. Details to be announced.
Nov. 18 – 10:00 Traditional Covered dish Thanksgiving dinner in Fellowship Hall with a musical program (Huntsville’s Singing Firemen have been invited) Turkey, dressing & gravy provided.
Dec. 16 – 6:00 – Catered Christmas Dinner. Tickets will be sold in advance (price tba.) Musical Program (hopefully Debra Saylor, the blind land, who plays the piano and sings.)
Jan. 20 – 10:00 – The great Crock-pot cook-off lunch with crack-pot fun also memories of the 50’s. It will also be a planning meeting so bring your ideas for 2011.
Feb. 17- 6:00 – Italian Dinner with a speaker. Janet Michael with history of Arab. Brush up on your facts and see if you are “smarter than a Young-in-Heart-er.”
